Monogastric nutrition, climate and environment

Our research aim and focus

The aim is to develop and document nutritional interventions and feeding strategies for monogastric animals as pigs, poultry, mink and insects to reduce their environmental, climate and biodiversity impact.

Our primary focus areas

  • Optimize feed efficiency to increase resource utilization and animal production

  • Feeding strategies and nutritional alternatives to reduce use and environmental impact of macro and micro minerals such as phosphorus and zinc
  • Decrease nitrogen excretion
  • Reduce climate impact through lower emission of greenhouse gases
  • Improve sustainable and organic animal production
  • Feeding and production of insects for food and feed

Our research perspectives

The continued development towards a high-productive, economic and environmentally sustainable animal production is getting even more complex when considering society and consumers expectation regarding climate impact.

Research and development in utilization of feed and specific nutrients will be fundamental for securing a future animal production.
