Basic nutrition and physiology

Our research aim and focus

The aim is to generate basic knowledge of the molecular aspects of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins and bioactive components with focus on the whole organism, the individual organ and the cellular level

Our primary focus areas

  • Basic work with the molecular and physiological aspects of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins and bioactive components.

  • Development of molecular and metabolomics techniques for analysing metabolites in biological fluids.
  • Molecular aspects of digestion and metabolism in the cross field between animals and humans.
  • Identification of suitable bio- and selection markers in biological fluids, cells and gaseous exhalation with focus on physiological responses to nutrient interventions.
  • Development of animal models as well as relevant analytical techniques for nutritional and physiological studies.

Our research perspectives

The general vision is to contribute with basic nutritional and physiological knowledge for a nutrient efficient, climate friendly production of healthy food animals.

The vision is also to generate nutritional and physiological knowledge in the cross field between animals and humans.
