The overall aim of the WelFur IV project is to facilitate scientifically based information and problem solving to questions arising during the assessments in 24 European countries. The solutions needs to be science based and applied in accordance with the initial expert opinions on the welfare effect of outcomes of each indicator in order to handle all conditions correctly.
The purpose is to investigate how different management strategies for slimming of breeding animals, which must be associated with different degrees of hunger, are expressed in various welfare indicators.
The purpose of the project is to create a professional basis for a correct WelFur-Mink assessment by partial weaning of large litter at 42 days, as is often practiced in Denmark.
The aim of the project is to find a marker of methionine status, which will allow us to determine, on basis of a blood or urine sample, whether a mink feed, contains enough methionine to fulfill the need of mink in the growing, furring period.
