Professorships in the areas of Herd Management and Animal Health Economics

The Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, invites highly qualified applicants to apply for professorships in the areas of Herd Management and Animal Health Economics. The positions are available from 1 January 2019.

The department plans to initiate two professorships in parallel within the research areas mentioned below:

Your tasks

The professor’s main activity will be to conduct and develop research and research-based teaching as well as to contribute as an expert consultant to the Danish authorities.

Internationally excellent applicants have the opportunity to achieve a competitive starting grant to boost the building of their research team.

 

The main working areas are herd management and animal health economics:

  • Within herd management, the research areas include development of methods and tools for on-farm welfare assessment and herd health management promoting farm animal health, welfare and production in a sustainable context,

  • Within animal health economics, the research areas include modelling of livestock herd management strategies, statistical analyses of production and event data in livestock production, methods for optimizing herd health and welfare management as well as application of methods and tools within micro-economics.

 

The professors will in addition have to: 

  • participate in providing research-based consultancy to authorities,
  • rise external funding,
  • participate in knowledge exchange with society and industry,
  • be responsible for teaching and supervising students at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels as well as young researchers and technical staff.   

 

Your profile

Qualifications for full professor level at Aarhus University include:

  • very strong academic background,
  • documented successful grant writing,
  • experience with project management,
  • industrial/public sector collaboration,
  • teaching and supervision experience.

 

Your place of employment and work

The place of employment is Aarhus University (AU), and the place of work is the Department of Animal Science, Science and Technology, Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele. Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU-Campus, 8000 Aarhus.
