Research aim and focus

The research group develops methods and tools for production and herd health management for the benefit of farm animal health and welfare in a sustainable context. The research group develops, gathers and disseminates knowledge of production management, herd health and welfare and creates possibilities for an improved communication between farmers, authorities and the surrounding community. 

Primary focus areas

  • Developing methods for assessment and management of farm animal production, health and welfare at herd level.
  • Epidemiological analysis of risk factors for and effects of farm animal diseases.
  • Developing organic and conventional agricultural production principles.
  • Analysis of the interaction between farmers, consultants and authorities.
  • Analysis of economic consequences of herd management strategies.

Research perspectives

The developed production concepts, methods and tools contribute to promoting a sustainable farm animal production for the benefit of industry and society. The research is carried out in an international context and disseminated through publication, education, authority consultancy and commercialisation.

The results of the research group are presented in form and forum so they can form part of the development of the primary production, the current social debate and be a basis for research-based service to the public sector and regulation.
