- I am happy to continue in the post as head of Animal Science. It is an exciting job, although there are of course constantly challenges both in the department, in the tasks related to faculty management and in relation to external partners. The appointment allows me not only to oversee the modernisation of the Department’s laboratories via UNIlab funds, but also the work with a new strategy, etc., which was started already last year in the departmental management group. I expect that the combined effort of the management team and the staff will ensure that we can utilize to the full the opportunities presented to us in research, teaching, policy support and collaboration with commercial partners,” says Klaus Lønne Ingvartsen.

The Department of Animal Science conducts basic, strategic and applied research in animal nutrition, health and welfare. Areas to which this can be applied are livestock production, hobby farm animals and welfare issues. The department has about 210 staff with an equal distribution between academic staff and administrative and technical staff.
