How can calf morbidity and mortality be decreased in organic dairy herds? Mari Reiten will defend her PhD thesis at AU Foulum on 17 October 2018

In her PhD project, Mari has compared organic and conventional dairy herds in order to identify risk factors for calf morbidity and mortality.

Calf mortality and diarrhoea is higher in organic herds compared to conventional dairy herds. Mari has conducted experimental studies in organic herds in order to study the effect of different management strategies.

The PhD study contributes to suggestion for improvement of farm management practices. The practices will in turn lead to decreased calf morbidity and mortality in Danish organic dairy herds.

The defence will take place Wednesday 17 October at AU Foulum in meeting room 2 at 10.00
